Microflame head

The mta microflame soldering head can be used in two extreme applications. It can be used in applications in high thermal mass similar to the induction system. At the other extreme, it can be used on relatively small joints that require a very quick soldering process.

The microflame head can be integrated on any of our mta standard soldering platforms including: MRC500, TR300, OEM and station.

7 reasons to choose the mta microflame soldering head

  1. The flame provides constant heat, while the patented pivoting flame tip reacts very quickly to provide precise heat exposure.
  2. The flame burns around 3000° C, but it is very small. It is able to quickly focus intense heat in small isolated areas yet avoid damaging nearby components or plastic housings. In many cases, it can be used to solder a joint before the heat has time to damage sensitive parts. For example, it can solder small diameter wire terminals before the wire insulation melts.
  3. The robust head structure is machined from solid material – not stamped sheet metal or die-cast part – to provide a rigid platform for the iron and wire feeder.
  4. The machined clamping system offers easy adjustment and precise alignment.  Once tightened, the position is fixed and will not change until loosened – there is no risk of accidental misalignment as a result of heavy use.
  5. The precise jam-free wire feeder is mounted on the head – directly at the solder joint.  This provides tight process control of the amount of wire fed.  The wire can be pulled out of the solder pool to prevent solder spatter.  Since there is no long feed tube, the solder wire does not kink or get jammed.
  6. Integrated fume extraction nozzle mounted directly above the solder joint safely removes fumes.
  7. Very low consumables – no iron tips or cleaning sponges, and gas is produced from electrolysis of distilled water.
